Winding Roads

Emotions

My mind is often times a storm that ranges with a range of emotions and thoughts.

My senses carry in a wide spectrum of stimuli that cry out for individual attention.

Left to themselves these thoughts work to drain the energy from my soul as I feel life ebb outwards from every pore in my body.

We all feel this, the demands of work; people we love, friends, strangers, and everyday life can sometimes make you want to curl up in a little ball.

It's been a hard week for me and for many people I care about. And I don't know how to detach myself from these emotions as they are going on.

So I find myself in need to still my thoughts and focus. As I sit here, looking out on the water, I try to calm the storm that rages, to think of those things that bring me peace.

I know that I cannot control the world; for it is too vast and I am but one man, but I also know I can control who I am and what I stand for. So with that I go forth armored in the love of my family and friends and try as hard as I can to treat everyone I know with the love and respect they deserve. In that small way I hope they at least will know that I for one know that they matter. That I share their fears, their hopes, and their dreams.

For those of you who feel a little off tonight, no matter why, know that there are many people like me who care deeply for you and will be there when you need a smile, a hug, an ear, or just a friend. You are never ever truly alone, we are right here. You matter to so many. Thank you for being in our lives and letting us be in yours.

In that there is peace, in that we can face all of life's storms.
