Boat on Still Water

Stillness

In the stillness of the morning, when your mind is uncluttered, you will find out who you really are. For it is then that your true self can exist, before you start to layer on the parts of you that the world expects to see.

For all of us must dawn the trappings of our lives, the personas that are the many faces that people see.

To often we let the expectations of others dictate how the world sees us. Yet these are choices we make, for no one can force us to be anything but who and what we are.  It is fear that does this, the fear of disappointing those we care for, those we love. The fear that maybe we are not good enough, or smart enough, or strong enough.

The closer one can be to that true face, the one found in the stillness, the closer one is to being at peace with themselves and those around us. It is the struggle for that for which we strive.

It is a good struggle, and in it perhaps we can find the courage to be true to ourselves.
